Woah, wait, what the?

Guess which team got f___ed in the _ss by the league and is still, in fact, in D6?

That's right, due to apparent incompetence, Brookline FC has been reassigned to D6 after a short stint in D5 where we went undefeated. I guess our luck had to run out sometime. It all seemed too good to be true, and in fact, it was.

The good news is that the same bunk-ass realignment that gave our promotion to the  Minutemen (those poor bastards!) has put us in D6 North. If you recall we crushed the BEST team in that division in the semis. So shorter commutes  to away games(sort of) and 99% chance of taking the league...I guess all things considered we made out ok.

  1. Wow you guys got screwed! I play for the Taunton Eagles and I can definitively tell you that you were the best team we played all year long -- and it wasn't close. How did Parkway get promoted ahead of you when you beat them in the standings and made the finals? I noticed Minutemen FC also got promoted ahead of you. Did you get an explanation?

You guys definitely deserved the promotion...

Good luck in the fall. We enjoyed our games with you and look forward to hopefully playing again.

  2. Thanks for the kind words. The league DID state at the beginning of the season that crossover games would not count. They did not reflect this in the points throughout the season, so everyone forgot about it and at the end of the season we had 2nd place. Eventually the league noticed (or perhaps it was pointed out to them) that the crossover games HAD been counted. So rather than the league looking at the playoff results and realizing the "right team" (us) was being promoted, they went back to the original "rules" and we kept in D6. Very frustrating when you look at the team strengths, but they got it right by the numbers. We look back on the season and see many moments where we could have decided our own fate and none of this craziness would have happened, so that's on us.

Thanks again for the kind words. Taunton is a class team.
