Boom goes the dynamite....

Sunday August 26, 2012
Chestnut Hill, MA - Brookline FC notched their first win of the 2012 fall campaign by dropping a hammer (and two touchdowns) on Norfolk FC.  Some might say a 6-0 lead at half was more than enough to secure the victory, and there was little need of 8 more second half points*.  Others might say the boys in Yellow and Maroon were expressing pent up feelings about the offseason promotion / demotion / alignment / realignment and trying to send a message.  Well it is safe to say "message sent and received."

Season outlook:
Management was very active during the summer break to add depth to an already potent (albeit sometimes inconsistent) squad.  Will this be the season BFC gets promoted?  The team is ready for the challenge and will have to battle with the likes of PAAC (the team formerly known as Dartmouth FC), newcomers Alliance Soccer Club, as well as a few tough crossover games with the other D6 section.

Analysts agree that on paper this team is strong top to bottom and a title contender.  The only thing holding these boys back is their consistency week in, week out.  Will this be the season for promotion?  Or will we see BFC drop crucial points when least expected.  The season is a ten game grind and with one in the books, the feeling around the BFC locker room is the time is right for them to claim the promotion spot.

* Resident tipper and winger Alan Silver asked for a 5-0 halftime lead to cover his spread with his local bookmaker.  Spread covered Alan; share the wealth of you winnings please.

Woah, wait, what the?

Guess which team got f___ed in the _ss by the league and is still, in fact, in D6?

That's right, due to apparent incompetence, Brookline FC has been reassigned to D6 after a short stint in D5 where we went undefeated. I guess our luck had to run out sometime. It all seemed too good to be true, and in fact, it was.

The good news is that the same bunk-ass realignment that gave our promotion to the  Minutemen (those poor bastards!) has put us in D6 North. If you recall we crushed the BEST team in that division in the semis. So shorter commutes  to away games(sort of) and 99% chance of taking the league...I guess all things considered we made out ok.

Who'd of thunk it?

Look who's currently being advertised as being in D5 South for the 2012 Fall Season?
I guess Brookline FC's 5 year plan is back on track!

Tauton fans for a day...

Good luck to the Taunton Eagles, as they look to finish off a perfect regular season! We need them to beat Parkway Friday night to seal our spot in the playoffs. Taunton has a chance to be like the 2007 Patriots, winning all their games until the big one...the one for the hardware. That would make us the Giants. And that would make Kent Eli Manning (I wouldn't do that to you, Charles). I call Jeremy Shockey because he's got a General Lee:

Good lord, why did she decide to ruin that body with childbirth? Even if she snaps back I will forever have "current Jessica" in the back of my mind.

Where was I? Yes, we've been our own worst enemy all season, but the goals have started to come. We're playing the best ball we've played all season, thanks in part to having a solid, regular lineup, so let's carry it through into the postseason. We seemed to do everything in our power to NOT make the playoffs, so let's not blow this chance that the less than disciplined Dartmouth team has bestowed on us. This is playoffs, men. You remember playoffs?...big carb meals, early bed time, up early with butterflies in the stomach...WIN OR GO HOME!!!  LET'S DO THIS!!!

Man down!

It pains me to use my first cell phone blog post to announce that Brookline has lost striker Niall for the season with a torn acl. In his all to brief first run with the newborn franchise, he established himself as an attacking force to be feared. All the best to Niall and his quick recovery. Hurry back!
